MORE IN LIFE

Ever since I start working on my digital photography assignments, my brain never stops thinking about it.
Everyday, the first and the last thing that come to my mind was all about photography.

I invested a lot of time going out for shooting.
Thanks to Phaegee who actually spent time here and there(shooting trips) with me.
She taught me a lot of stuffs before the lecturer did so i managed to picked up some skills, piece by piece.
She is a good mentor but still there's never a shortcut in photography,
only practices will make expert.
:)

These were just some of the photos that i snapped during the first shooting trip and they are not the set of the photos that i actually submitted for the assignments. A little bit of myself regretted buying a dslr tho, just a bit. Haha The weight on the shoulder is a pain in the ass. Sigh.

Thing comes and goes in life. My S2 was stolen 2weeks after i owned a dslr. Still feeling grief for the loss but what can i do? :(

A random photo that i took when chilling with the buds. Never thought this will be the last photo of it. LOL

The bitchy bestie Ad mocked me like seriously by saying my addiction to Instagram has finally been compelled into a pause(until i get another smarthphone/tab).

If you wondered why my last 14 posts seem kinda not related/weird, well that was one of the project that I did for a subject called "Creative Thinking and Idea Generation" last semester. Those posting was all about things that inspire me to be creative.

"Creative" is a big word. No. I am not a graphic design student if you wonder. I'm hardly an artist, my drawing sucks and i don't have much talents in designing. It was a compulsory subject so it left me no choice. However, everything turned out well and i actually got an A for this subject. So, no complain. hehe
Feel free to have a look if you're interested :)

The Big Bang Theory!

Project 1: #14

BAZINGA!

The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady.

The show is centered on five characters: roommates Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper, two physicists who work at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech); Penny, a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall; and Leonard and Sheldon's equally geeky and socially awkward friends and co-workers, aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz and astrophysicist Rajesh Koothrappali

The geekiness and intellect of the four guys is contrasted for comic effect with Penny's social skills and common sense.

So, the four guys are smart enough, but they are also people which we basically known as nerd. Just like my other favorite sitcoms, such as Don't trust the Bitch in Apartment 23, Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother, they are all intent to bring out laughter from people, by playing stupid, being sarcastic, busking and mocking each other of  their funny face or their bimbotic or the stupid decision/thing that they have done.

It actually inspires me by taking chances, try every possibility and even turn the humiliation experiences into something that we can make fun of. Isn't that they say it BAD DECISION MAKES GREAT STORY? :)

Never be afraid of taking chances when you are still young! Dare the risks.
An adventures will either be great, or either suck. But let's just face it, you'll never know which of it will eventually be if you never try! ;)

Break the barriers

Project 1: #13

Principles of space and visual angle

Every lion has a tender side. LOL

A leaf can also be a tree.

Sunlight that brings out colors.

Shadows.

Spot those shadows of kids? :)

Two-way shoes/slippers.

Stickers.

Who says cups must be round on bottom?

These are magnets. :)

All of these inspire me to break the barriers (or I prefer to say it as existing perception) by using contrary thinking. For example, how can i make a pointed bottom of teacup and teapot to stand.. how to only bring one pair shoes but can change it into a completely different style and look..

Furthermore, it also inspires me to include some natural resources that we can easily find, such as   sunlight, tree, water to actually further amaze people in breaking the old barriers, old rules.

After all, RULES ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN! :P

Eyes catching!

Project 1: #12

Amplifying, contrasting, relating, brainstorming!

It can carries so much more.

The best way to alert people, is to show them the consequences or how serious should they take it in mind. The cases that we read it on news, or even happened around us is somehow related to us.

Ash-tray or lungs? Smokers should take note of this!

Collaboration of pizza company with Colgate (toothpaste and toothbrush company): We should clean our teeth and mouth after meals!

"DON'T SPEED" if you don't want to end up in jail.

To boost up a certain object or issue that we want people to take note, we have to turn people's head. How so? We can amplify, add-in, hang it up to make sure people would notice it, take a few more glance. The more all these being expose to the public, the more people have the to know what they shouldn't be doing.

It also inspires me to always update with the news, issues and things that happening around the world but not just those around our lives. Keep in touch with the global issues, to help people out of before the tragedy.

Multi-function

Project 1: #11

Creations that make people's life easier.

We want one product that can do more than one task.

I want the second and the third!

Shortcut to the ground floor. They have this in U.S.

Table/Chair! How nice if they have this in M'sia. :/

Cute bookcase/chair for children!

This would be perfect for lazy travelers! :P

Make full use of the stairs: Storage.

Fork or spoon? Convenience much? LOL

In Singapore's airport, you can recharge your phone battery with this machine.

Unlike animals, we humans are smart. We know what we want: we want everything to be convenience, we want less complicated and less trouble.

So we design, create, to solve relevant problem. When designers learnt how much people love to own one product that has multifunction, which can do more than one task, they actually keep getting feedback and opinion from their audience to improve their creation.

All of the above products inspire me, to create a unique creation, one have to narrow down his/her goal and objective, to satisfy my client or audience or boss with more task on an existing thing. Moreover, one have to constantly keep in touch with our client (targeted audience) to be updated of their opinion and feedback in order to produce a better product.

The Sum of Each Part Makes A Dynamic and Greater Whole.

Project 1: #10

Portrait of men and women made by parts of motorcycle.

Portrait of a kingdom made by eggs.

Portrait of Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" made by cups that filled with milk, cocoa and coffee.

Early of this year, a few videos that go viral had caught my eyes. I was fascinated by the video portraits (of the combination of things/materials) that meant so common or even little to me, can surprisingly bring out such a beautiful creations.

The artist without a paintbrush as she calls herself, Hong Yi a.k.a Red, is a Sabah-born (Malaysian Australian) artist-architect working in Shanghai.
She has caught the public eye with her unique large scale artwork, starting with the portrait of renowned Chinese artist Ai Weiwei using sunflower seeds, Singer Jay Chao using coffee cup stains, Chinese film director Zhang Yi Mou using 750 pairs of socks, bamboo sticks and pins, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Yao Ming, Adele and so many other by using multiple of the material which we can found in our daily life.

Portrait of Jay Chao using coffee cup stains.

Portrait of Mark Zuckerberg using novel books because she thought it could be ironic to create Facebook out of BOOKS
The saddest part is she actually diced up (by cutting out the side of) the novel "Game of Thrones"!! (How dare she! LOL), which the thickest paperback book she could find, however she claimed she didn't cut too much of it so the novel is still readable. Phew! Game of thrones are safe! :D

Portrait of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei using sunflower seeds. Remarkable isn't she? :)

My favorite goes to the portrait of Adele. She was inspired by Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" (which also my fav) and decided to use burning candles to start the portrait.

Hong Yi (Red) : "To me, ADELE was probably singing about the pain of a lost relationship. Rain may be a metaphor for her tears she cried, and she is setting fire to it to burn and destroy her pain. I've used blue candles to represent tears, and by setting fire to them, they melt and flow into each other - "Watched it pour as I touched your face..." - and they form a portrait of ADELE."

All of the combination of materials she used can also be found at home.
Her projects inspire me to think of the big picture and not to be bounded by the size or time or material to make the intangible ideas in mind to become tangible.

Bonding Time with Love ones!

The Family Concept.

Project 1: #09

Cute shoes for parents and their kids to have fun and play together.

Couch? Bed? Chair?
I am not sure what does this really called, but i am so gonna get one if i see em, i can already imagine its comfyness when cuddling it. :)

Time for some storytelling: Perfect chair for the elders and kids at home.

These are some of the example from designers who create stuff for the family concept. It's to improve family relationships by spending more time together, with the product.

"Family" is a very basic structure for us human. Although it's intangible, but it's far more than just an idea, matter fact the bond runs in our bloods, it still ties our heart closely. It builds who we are today.

I believe one's personalities, attitudes, behaviors and mindsets, self-esteem, etc. are built by what he/she has gradually assimilated in the family when he/ she is growing up.
There is a theory stated a habit can be formed with its repetition for 21days. However, to change a habit that had been formed for over 10 years, could be pretty hard. Thus, to form a good family relationship, the parents has to do it with their kids since they are young.

In a nutshell, creativity can be a kind of conveying of motive or value by the designer to the targeted audience. In this case, the motive is to pull people's relationship closer.
